Animal lovers, I understand. I 'm one of you. And when you buy a house, you have to think about your pets.
Do you have dogs? They need room to run. Get something with a large yard, or make sure there is a dog park nearby. We don't want the puppies cooped up with no exercise. Make sure you keep them on your property. A dog run or a fence are perfect for this. Neighbors might be unhappy if your dog is in their yard, digging up their flowers, or doing their business in the middle of their fire pit area.
Are you a cat lover? Be sure to find a house with a place for a litter box that won't be in the way. And follow the same rules as with your dog. Don't let them roam the neighborhood, doing their business in neighbors' yards and walking on their cars. Keep the little sweeties inside or put them on a leash outside. Kitty leashes are out there. Lightweight and sturdy. When I was young, a lot of the barn cats hung around at out house (because we put food out for them). Many of them were very friendly. A mamma cat who always had her kittens in our garage climbed up into a friend's car, to stay warm. Our friend stopped at our house on his wedding day because he was nervous. He started his car to go to the ceremony, and the cat's tail got stuck in the belts. Fortunately, she was all right, but her tail had to be removed. We changed her name from Mommy Cat to Stumpy. It could have been a lot worse. No one wants that to happen to their kitten, so keep them inside and safe.
Snake lovers, please don't bring your snake to my house to visit. No offense, but I have an irrational fear of snakes. And spiders. So tarantula owners, you and the snake owners are welcome for a cup of tea, but leave your favorite pets at home. Obviously, it makes sense to keep your reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids secured in your house. If you have an iguana, he can come for tea with you.
Birds are so incredibly cool. But be careful not to let them outside without putting them in an outdoor confinement of some kind. For example, my brother built the Taj Mahal of duck houses for their ducks. The hawks, coyotes, and other wildlife in the area won't be able to get to them, and have them for dinner. Plus, the ducks won't decide to take up residence elsewhere.
So many different kinds of pets. We love them because they are part of our family. So be sure to keep them safe and well cared for. Don't forget that if there are fields or woods around you, your furry baby can pick up ticks and get sick from them. They can even bring them into the house where the ticks can get on you or your kids.
Love those pets, keep them safe, and get their unconditional love right back!

"My husband and I looked at many houses with many different agents until we met Mick Marino at an Open House. We were impressed with his professionalism and business savvy and decided to hire him as our agent. He not only found us a great home but negotiated a great deal for us. He even drove us to the Closing. We have recommended him to several of our friends who also had nice things to say about him."
